Cellular Jail

Located in Port Blair, Cellular Jail is a place where the freedom fighters were captured, tortured and hanged. It is a witness of the tortures that were done on the freedom fighters as the British used to give hard punishment to them in the jail. The jail was completed in 1906 and named cellular, because it was made up of individual cells. Out of 7 wings, there are currently three wings left, as the rest four wings were demolished to make hospitals, which were meant for the isolated imprisonment of the prisoners. The Jail Memorial is open on all the weekdays, except Monday and Govt. Holidays.

The jail is at a walking distance from Aberdeen Bazaar and is located in the city.


Water Sports Complex

Water Sports Complex offers excellent opportunities to the travelers, visiting the place to enjoy all aqua-sport like Water-skiing, Sail boats, Windsurfing, Speed Boats etc. Also, at the entrance there is a Memorial for the Battle of Aberdeen that was fought between the Britishers and Andaman aboriginals in 1859. In the memories of the residents of Andaman Nicobar Islands who were killed in the Tsunami, a Tsunami Memorial is also constructed. It is usually open all weekdays and mostly crowded on weekends and holidays.

Chidiya Tapu Beach

Chidiya Tapu lies in the southernmost tip of South Andaman and is one of the favorite destinations for the bird watchers. Also, there are lush green mangroves & dense forests where travelers can enjoy the scenic delights of Mother nature; the charming beach with its milky white sands also makes for an ideal picnic spot. There is an exotic beach nearby named Munda Pahad, which is very popular among the people. There is a zoo called Chidiya Tapu biological Zoo, which offers exotic views of species like salt water crocodiles, snakes, pythons, eagles and other endangered species in the natural environment. The zoo is open on all the weekdays except Monday.

Red Skin Island (Mahatma Gandhi Marine National Park)

Mahatma Gandhi Marine National Park provides a rich and diverse habitat to the marine animals, which ranges from the smallest zoo plankton to the large sea mammals like Dolphins. There is an island in the park which is best nesting grounds for four species of Marine turtles including the Green sea, Leather Back, Hawk bill and Olive Ridley. Red Skin Island has a good beach, and offers remarkable view of corals and marine life. To take a closer look at the coral colonies, the glass-bottom boats help the tourist.

Ross Island

Earlier the administrative headquarters of the British were situated in Ross Island in the early 20th century. Following the earthquake in June 1941, all of the structures including the clubhouses, swimming pools, granaries, officers’ mess, tennis courts and the majestic church, lie in ruins, which have been reclaimed by nature. There are lots of deers and peacocks in the place which add to the natural beauty. The island is usually open on all the weekdays except Wednesday.

How to reach :-
You can reach here using ferry service, which is available from Water Sport Complex till 1.30 pm.


Corbyns Cove Beach

Corbyns Cove Beach is located at a distance of 7 kms from Port Blair and is only beach within the city at a very short distance. Here, the visitors can enjoy the cool sea breeze and spectacular view of blue waters. Restaurant and refreshment facilities are also available on the island. The beach is open all the weekdays.

Swimming at beach side, Jet Ski and speed boat facility is also available on the island.

Chatham Saw Mill

The Chatham Saw Mill is one of the oldest and the largest wood mills in Asia. The mill is built on a tiny island, and is connected to Port Blair by a bridge. It is also a store- base of timbers like Padauk, Gurjan, Marble, Satinwood etc. The mill is open on all the weekdays till 01.30 pm, except Monday and National Holidays.

Samudrika Museum

Samudrika Museum gives a good review of the history, geography, people, marine life and archaeology of the islands. Moreover, the Marine museum is owned and run by the Indian Navy. The museum also houses a remarkable display of coral and shells. The museum usually opens on all the weekdays except Monday and National Holidays.

The museum is located at a walking distance from city which is just 1.2 km


Anthropological Museum

The Anthropological Museum is one of the unique museums and is situated at the heart of Port Blair. The museum provide a glimpse of the tribal natives of the islands and also shows the tribal essentials and artifacts such as boats, weapons, baskets, clothing, photographs, models and records of exploratory expeditions, which were undertaken over the years. The library is well-stocked and provides the scholar with priceless references to tribal culture. The museum opens all the weekdays except Tuesday and National Holidays.

Havelock Island

Radhanagar Beach is one of the popular beaches in Havelock Island. The Radhanagar Beach is also known as one of the beautiful beaches in Asia. The beach is ideal for surfing, swimming, taking a sun bath or simply lazing around. In Havelock Island, there is also another beach called Elephanta Beach, which is famous because of the corals and shells surrounding the beach. Most of the snorkeling and diving activities are carried out at this place. The island is open all the weekdays.

Marina Park

Marina Park is located in the pristine seashore in close proximity to Water Sports Complex. The park and aquarium is the main attraction in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The local people and the tourists use the park for spending their evenings by enjoying the nature's gifts of pristine beauty, stunning sea waves and lush green vegetation.

Neil Island

Neil Island is located at a distance of 36 kms east of Port Blair and is one of the ideal holiday destinations for tourists because of the presence of lush green forests and sandy beaches. Baratang Island

The nature’s best treasures are found on these islands such as Limestone caves, Active Mud Volcano, the mangrove eco system, Parrot Island is a rare attraction for bird lovers. The islands are connected by ATR Road (Andaman Trunk Road). There is a dense rainforest cover which you enjoy on a road journey from Port Blair to Baratang, or one may be a part of an eco-adventure trip for tourists. Baratang Island opens all the weekdays except Monday.

Diglipur

Diglipur is located in North Andaman Island, and is one of the beautiful destinations for nature lovers. In Diglipur, you can find Saddle Peak (732 meters) the highest point in the islands and Kalpong, the only river of Andaman, which flows from here. Ram Nagar beach is famous for Turtle nesting during December – February, and tourists can also enjoy trekking to Saddle Peak.

Mayabunder Island

The Mayabunder Island is located in the northern part of Middle Andaman, and is inhabited by the settlers from Burma, East Pakistan and ex-convicts. The islands offer excellent scenic beauty and beautiful beaches. Avis Island is 30 minutes boat journey from Mayabunder and Karmatang beach is at a distance of 13 kms. Karmatang beach is also a turtle nesting ground and one can view nesting of turtles during December-February season.

Little Andaman Island

By sea, the journey to Little Andaman Island is around 9 hrs. from Port Blair towards south. the Island is s home to very beautiful beach at Butler Bay, a waterfall and plantation of oil palms. Moreover, there are many sandy beaches all along the coastline of the island. The Hutbay Waterfall offers an excellent view to the tourists.

One can enjoy jungle trekking to waterfalls, swimming and elephant safari.

The route via sea is controlled by daily Govt. ferry services and regulated from Phoenix bay harbor to Port Blair.


Rangat Island

The Rangat Island is an island which is 90 km (approx.) by sea and 170 km by road. It is located in middle Andaman, which crosses dense tropical forest, and mangrove creeks. The place is ideal for nature lovers seeking solitude, and Rangat provides them a calm village and unpolluted air, which is a rare commodity for the city inhabitants. The main tourist attraction is turtle nesting ground at Cutbert Bay beach.

How to reach :-

Long Island

The Long Island is an island which is 82 km from Port Blair by sea. The island is home to a beautiful sandy beach at Lalaji Bay. There are also many beautiful forest patch and coconut plantations in the region. As one of the unpolluted beaches in Andaman, it attracts most of the tourists.

How to reach :-
The Ferry Service is available twice in a day from the local Phoenix Bay Jetty at Port Blair.
